New-ish Musical Express

Over 130 music critics and broadcasters have voted for their favourite artists of 2007. They include a singer who sounds like Freddie Mercury, a band that sound like U2 and a rapper who sounds like he might be from London. Asked what made these artists stand out from the rest, an industry spokesman said, 'There are a lot of people out there who want to hear music that sounds like something they've heard but is slightly different. By promoting these ten artists and giving them awards at the end of the year we can prove we were right.'

Comments:
EMI are releasing a new Beatles album 'CASH', which features 75 minutes of coughing sounds, taken from the original mastertapes and mixed incompetantly in stereo by Sir George Martin and then remastered (slightly more competantly) by his grandson Josh Martin. Apparantly, “Ex-Beatle” (© Apple Corps Ltd) George Harrison began work on this project shortly before his untimely death and had recorded some additional coughs especially for the mix. (There are rumours that these include the ‘coughing blood’ tapes made at the time of Mr Harrison’s near-fatal (but not quite fatal) stabbing in 1999.) Yoko Ono LENNON and Olivia HARRISON (“The Beatles Wives”) have given their thumbs-up to the project and Sir Paul McCartney has added his thumbs. Ringo is believed to be in LA, for tax purposes.
